I Give It a Year (2013) [4/50]

Language: English

Cast: Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall, Simon Baker, Anna Faris and Stephen Merchant.

Story: Story of a married couple who possible got married in haste trying to make it work during the first year of their marriage.

Screenplay and direction: Direction and Screenplay are good they are by Dan Mazer who was a part of Sacha Baron Cohen movies like the Borat.

Performances: When it comes to the girls, while Rose Byrne looks beautiful she fails to evoke empathy for her character and Anna faris while acts well but looks a bit animated due to her lips which suggest plastic surgery gone wrong. The leading men Rafe Spall and Simon Baker put up remarkable performances.

Interesting: Every time Stephen Merchant of the office (British) fame is on screen it is a rib ticking scene, though the jokes push the envelope Stephen Merchant as done a marvelous job. Its hard to find such a character in real life however.

USP: It’s an experimental Rom com, a few bits are hilarious.

Downside: Jokes can be a bit crass and at some parts it seems to be too predictable.

Verdict: The story is a conventional Romcoms with a twist, full of cringe humour. Overall the movie is watchable, a classic case of watch and don’t think much. I give it a 7/10.
