Fukrey (2013) [15/50]

Language: Hindi

Cast: Pulkit Samrat , Ali Fazal,  Varun Sharma, Richa Chadda, Manjot Singh.

Story: A couple of dead beat school flunking boys plan to rig the final exams by buying exam papers with money they win in a lottery, they need investors and that’s when an innocent boy with dreams of joining a big college and a struggling musician in desperate need of money join in and the team approaches a local don (gundi) for the investment.

Screenplay and direction: The direction is good and screenplay is good in the beginning but loses grip as the movie progresses.

Performances: All the actors play there part well. None disappoint. Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma are tremendous. Richa Chadda is a powerhouse of talent and seems to seamlessly fit in any character thrown at her.

Interesting: The main plot decoding dreams that seemed so believable in inception looks ridiculous (as it should) in this movie, but after taking that leap of faith the movie fairs well.

USP:  Charming characters, good actors and decent script. The lottery bit was well researched.

Downside: The sudden redemption is too obvious, not everyone can stand dilli hindi, the movie’s second half is not well written and hence becomes cumbersome to watch.

Verdict: What lacked in script was made up in acting but only to some extent. Better second half would have made the movie really good, never the less, a decent and fun movie to watch. Makes me hope all these actors get more movies so I don’t have to stand Katrina kaif style acting anymore. 7/10
