Language: English
Cast: Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Gemma Jones
Story: Based on a bestselling novel, the movie is a story of
a slightly overweight spinster trying to find her man and her happy ending.
Screenplay and direction: The direction is good and
screenplay is okay.
Performances: Since we see Renée Zellweger a lot during the
run time it was imperevive she performs well and she has, she is a delight. Hugh
Grant and Colin Firth seamlessly fit their roles. The supporting cast is good
too.
Interesting: At 136 pounds or 61.69 kgs, she is considered fat;
I mean what chance do normal people have in this world.
USP: cute, interesting, well paced and leaves you smiling
Downside: eccentric, some may find it anti feminist and that
it’s over hyped.
Verdict: It’s a feel good, time pass movie. Some of the
scenes are eccentric, over the top and in some you may even relate to the character,
but all in all you will have fun. I especially love the fight scene between the
two leading men. It is however a take on pride and prejudice, the book has been
adapted so many times proving it indeed is a classic. If you are in the mood
for a chick flick this is a good one. Delightful hence 7/10.
