Dil Se (1998) [19/50]

Language: Hindi

Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Manisha Koirala, Preity Zinta, Raghubir Yadav,  Piyush Mishra

Story: A love story in essence in times of struggle and conflicting ideologies. An AIR radio producer falls for a mysterious girl in asssam.

Screenplay and direction: The direction and the screenplay are both outstanding.

Performances: All actors played there parts exceptionally well. In my opinion SRK was amazing; the intensity he brings to the table really makes all the difference. Manisha is terrific. The music is one of the performers too.

Interesting: The relationship between the characters of SRK and Manisha might seem unrealistic or even creepy to people but the intensity and their performance makes it more real then a real life relationship. It has tones of India and Kashmir relationship, where the man (India) wants to be with the women (Kashmir) and the woman wants independence even though she is attached to the man, eventually their existence ending in doom.

USP: Intense, different, like poetry, passionate.

Downside: I think people might not like it based on personal taste and most of it too intense for someone looking to chill and have a nice time.

Verdict: One of my favorite movies of all time. Its impact can’t be described in words. I love that the “hero” can’t hit the goons and he is way too normal, loved it. Beautifully made; beautifully executed. 10/10.
